
Dr. Betty Lin currently serves as the Coordinator for Related Services and Support Staff in the Special Education Department, where she works with the Director of Related Services to monitor programs, evaluate staff, conduct professional development, and oversee support staff training. Her professional background includes extensive experience in special education administration, program development, and teacher support. Previously, she held positions as coordinator and program specialist in Alameda Unified School District and San Leandro Unified School District. She also has experience in higher education as an Adjunct Professor and Program Advisor at Mills College, where she advised graduate students and contributed to program administration. Dr. Lin served for 12 years as a Board of Directors for a state nonprofit organization called the Infant Development Association, and 3 years as its state chair. She served for 5 years as a steering committee member on the Alameda County Early Care & Education Planning Council.
Throughout Dr. Lin’s career, she has consistently worked to improve educational outcomes for all students, particularly those who are neurodivergent and with disabilities. This has involved advocating for appropriate services, supporting teachers in implementing effective practices, and ensuring compliance with special education laws and regulations. She is passionate about fostering collaborative environments and empowering educators to meet the diverse needs of their students. She wants to offer her experience and skills to the UAOS Board because she is committed to contributing to the leadership and strategic direction of UAOS.
