Francisco Alvarado was born in Mexico and moved to the United States at ten years old, growing up as a bilingual and bicultural Latino male. After over twenty years working in schools as a mental health professional, Francisco now serves as the Behavioral Health Program Manager at OUSD, supporting mental health services in schools. As the current treasurer for UAOS and an alum of the Latino Board Leadership Academy, he bring over 15 years of experience in union and community organizing, fundraising, and budget management to the table.
Francisco is active on the board of various organizations like Mira Scholars and Brothers on the Rise, as well as serving as Delegate for the National Association for Social Workers-California. He has held a position on UAOS' board for three years. In that time, Francisco worked closely with the union president and Executive Director to implement financial procedures ensuring funds are well spent for the benefit of union members. Francisco manages profit and loss reports to maintain accountability and transparency.
There is still much work to do, and Francisco is committed to utilizing their valued skills to help move UAOS forward and achieve its mission.
