Oakland Teachers Vote on Whether to Strike

Teachers in the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) started voting on a potential strike after school on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.

OUSD teachers are asking for smaller class sizes, more student resources, including more school counselors and nurses, and higher wages from the district. The strike vote comes after the district board voted to close a middle school - which could be the first of many school closures.
